Modeling and Analysis of Real Time and Embedded systems

Modeling and Analysis of Real Time and Embedded systems ( MARTE ) is an OMG standard for modeling real-time systems and embedded systems with UML2 . MARTE is available as a UML2 profile of the same name and extends UML with the aim of supporting model-driven development of applications for real-time systems and embedded systems. The four essential parts of the profile are:

  • a core package defines a framework with the basic concepts to support real-time systems and embedded systems
  • a first specialization of the core package for modeling applications
  • a second specialization of the core package for the quantitative analysis of UML2 models, in particular scheduling and performance
  • a fourth part collects all other MARTE extensions, for example textual languages

The MARTE specification is publicly available on the OMG website. Modeling with MARTE is supported by the two open source modeling tools Modelio and Papyrus as well as by proprietary modeling tools such as IBM's Rational Rhapsody , MagicDraw . and Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect
