Modinha
The Modinha is a sentimental-lyrical Brazilian song that was composed around 1750 in an urban setting. It has its origins in a popular form of song from colonial and imperial Brazil .
The Modinha clearly shows courtly influences from the 18th century and often developed into children's songs and lullabies . A typical accompanying instrument is the Brazilian violão guitar or, more recently, the piano.
