Modolo is a manufacturer of bicycle components from Conegliano ( Province of Treviso , Italy) and is best known for its bicycle brakes.

In 1952, Adamo Modolo founded the first Italian company to manufacture bicycle brakes. By 1975 the company had already equipped 1 million bikes with components. In 1976 Domenico Modolo, the founder's son, took over the company. Bernard Hinault won the Vuelta de España , Laurent Fignon , the Tour de France and Greg LeMond , the World Championships with the brake equipment Modolo. The professionals Giovanni Battaglin , Francesco Moser , Sean Kelly, Eric Le Blanc , Moreno Trabucchi, Elena Giacomuzzi , Annabella Stropparo and others drove Modolo brakes.

Products

Until the late 1980s, the company mainly produced brakes for racing bikes. The "Mach 1" model was also available in many versions as licensed buildings for z. B. Mavic produces. A special design feature of Modolo brakes are the toggle screws for fine adjustment of the tension and for quick opening of the brakes. In addition to brakes, the company also manufactured stems . In 1980 Modolo produced the first Aero KRONOS brakes made of carbon. In 1983 the company brought out the first hydraulic brakes for racing bikes for Colnago as a prototype. In 1998, the first were Integrated Hand Levers & shifting levers (brake switch combo) MORPHOS for Shimano , Campagnolo , Index ( SRAM ) put on the market.
