Modular sanitary facility

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Under MSE refers to the modular medical facilities of the Armed Forces , which is essentially limited to containers and tents support. Several assembly configurations are possible:

  • Rescue station (RS),
  • Rescue center easy (RZ le)
  • Rescue Center (RZ) and
  • Deployment hospital (EinsLaz).

Within these configurations, due to the modularity by adding or omitting tents and containers, the size and functionality can be adapted to the respective application requirements.

The increasing number of Bundeswehr missions abroad revealed gaps in the medical equipment. The concept of modular sanitary facilities was then developed. They are used for initial and further medical care under operational conditions. The equipment is essentially based on a combination of tent elements and functional containers. Achieving the high standard of medical care in Germany was the main goal in the development of the medical facility. As a result, MSE corresponds to the level of a German district hospital. (According to the then Defense Minister Rudolf Scharping, every soldier deployed abroad should "ultimately receive the same medical care as at home".)

There are currently three modular medical facilities (MSE) in use, one in Prizren , Kosovo , the second in Mazar-e Sharif , Afghanistan and in Libreville , Gabon . After treatment in one of these facilities, the patients are usually transported back with the help of an Airbus A310 Medevac from the German Armed Forces.

However, given the abundance of containers, it is not possible to move quickly to the country of deployment and to set it up on site for logistical reasons. To support initial operations or other fast operations - evacuation operations, liberation from German citizens hostage - there is in the area of command Rapid Reaction Forces Medical Service , the Luftverlegbaren medical facilities (LSE).
