history

The Rapid Emergency Medical Service Command was put into service on April 1, 2003 in Leer in East Frisia and was initially subordinate to the Medical Service Command in Koblenz until December 31, 2012 . It emerged from the former medical brigade 1 , which was dissolved on March 31, 2003 after almost 10 years of existence. Whose last commander was a colonel doctor Arno Roßlau . The restructuring was necessary against the background of the new range of tasks of the Bundeswehr and the Central Medical Service of the Bundeswehr (ZSanDstBw).

The decision of the Inspector of the Medical Service of the Federal Armed Forces (InspSan) on January 12, 2006 to adapt the medical services of the intervention forces to the new operational requirements and thus to the changes in security policy of recent years, especially in the areas of NATO (NRF), the European Union (EU BG) and the United Nations (UN) have made it necessary to adapt the structures.

The wide range of different options in possible intervention operations, the functional and operationally necessary interaction of IEF ( Initial Entry Forces ) and FOF ( Follow-On-Forces (follow-up operations)), as well as the planning tasks to be performed in advance for the The entire range of tasks requires the management, planning and training of the intervention forces ZSanDstBw from a single source. Against this background, the Kdo SES (old) and the Medical Regiment 12 were dissolved in 2007. On July 1, 2007, a joint association was reorganized at the Leer and Schwanewede locations based on functional criteria . This also bears the name chosen in 2003: Kdo SES.

In April 2010, the InspSan ordered a further restructuring. The command area command and operational support was dissolved and the subordinate forces assigned to the two other command areas. In the remaining KdoBer IEF and FOF all facilities are now proportionally available and these are also subordinate to the respective KdoBer commanders. The aim of the reclassification was to reduce interfaces within the command and thus to increase efficiency.

The command supported it on a special mission until the Air Mobile Operations Division (DLO) was dissolved.

As part of the realignment of the Bundeswehr, the SES command was also reclassified. The IEF command area was decommissioned on December 8, 2014, and the FOF command area followed six months later, on June 3, 2015. The Lützow barracks site in Schwanewede with the units stationed there was completely closed in September 2015.

organization

In addition to smaller sub-units, the "Ostfriesland" Rapid Rescue Forces Command is subordinate to a supply company and four operational companies at the Leer location, as well as a training facility, the so-called training and simulation center, distributed between the Delmenhorst and Hamburg locations. A deployment company is a supplementary troop unit consisting purely of reservists .
