The Moel Tŷ Uchaf ( German for  the high bare hill ) is a 440 m high mountain in Gwynedd , in Wales . It is located in Denbighshire east of Llandrillo .

On its summit there is an almost completely preserved prehistoric ring cairn of the same name, made of 41 stones, which has a diameter of about 11 m and a stone box (after A. Burl) in the center. It probably dates from the Bronze Age and was used for ritual purposes. The circle is interrupted in the southeast by the original entrance. A second, shorter interruption in the east was probably caused by the loss of stones.

There is a stone box below Moel Tŷ Uchaf .

  2. The difference between a stone circle and a ring cairn is that the ring cairn was built to encircle a stone box that was covered by a (usually no longer existing) cairn, while the stone circle in its original state did not have these fixtures having
