Mohamed Haji Mukhtar

Mohamed Haji Mukhtar (born June 13, 1947 in Bakool , Somalia ) is professor of African and Middle Eastern history at Savannah State University in Savannah , Georgia. He is the author of several publications on the history and society of Somalia and Islam. Mukhtar belongs to the Leysan Rahanweyn clan and is also known as an advocate of the Maay dialect of the Somali language spoken by the Rahanweyn .
