Mohammed Hamza Ghanayem
Mohammed Hamza Ghanayem (* 1953 in Bâqa al-Gharbiya near Haifa , † May 25, 2004 ibid) was an Arab-Israeli poet, writer and translator .
Life
Ghanayem studied Arabic literature in Tel Aviv , was editor of the magazine Fasl al-Maqal and editor-in-chief of the supplement Al-Mashhad al-Israili (The Israeli scene) of the daily newspaper Al-Ayyam and the Hebrew- Arabic magazine Al-Liqa (encounter). He wrote poetry in both Arabic and Hebrew, he translated Mahmud Darwish's volumes of poetry from Arabic into Hebrew and Hebrew works into Arabic. He worked at Madar , the Palestinian Center for Israel Studies , in Ramallah and was a spokesman for the Palestinian-Israeli dialogue.
Ghanayem is featured in the Arabic-German poetry anthology After the Last Heaven - New Palestinian Poetry . (Edited by Khalid Al-Maaly. Kirsten Gutke Verlag, 2003.)
