Mohammad Khosh Heikal Azad (born February 2, 1960 ) is an Iranian diplomat.

Career

In 1986 Azad received a bachelor's degree in political relations and in 1999 his master's degree in political management from the Department of Foreign Affairs' Faculty of International Relations. In 2013 another master's degree in regional studies followed at the Islamic Azad University and in 2018 in American studies a doctorate from the University of Tehran .

From 1986 to 1988, Azad was an expert in the 7th Political Department of the Iranian Foreign Ministry. From 1989 to 1994 he was a diplomat at the Iranian embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia . He then returned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and was an expert in the 2nd Department for South and East Asia until 1999. This was followed by a diplomatic post at the Iranian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur ( Malaysia ) until 2003 and Deputy Director of the 2nd East Asia and Oceania Department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs until 2005.

From 2005 to 2010 Azad was Deputy Ambassador to the Iranian Embassy in Jakarta, until 2015 Director of the 1st Department East Asia and Oceania in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, until 2018 Advisor to the Deputy Foreign Minister for Asia and Oceania and until 2019 Assistant to the Director General for Asia and Oceania.

In 2019, Azad was appointed Iranian ambassador to Jakarta, with responsibility for Indonesia and East Timor . On February 20, 2020, Azad presented its accreditation to East Timor's President Francisco Guterres .

Azad is married and has two children. He speaks English, French and Indonesian as foreign languages .
