Mohammed Shia 'Al Sudani

Mohammed Shia 'al-Sudani ( Arabic محمد شياع السوداني, DMG Muḥammad Šiyāʿ as-Sūdānī ; * around 1970 in Baghdad ) has been Minister for Human Rights in Iraq in the cabinet of Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki since 2010 . He was previously the governor of Maisan .

Life

Sudani is married and has four sons. Sudani holds a bachelor's degree in agricultural science from Baghdad University and a master's degree in project management. In 1980, Sudani witnessed his father and five other family members being executed for membership in the Islamic Dawa party . Sudani took part in the 1991 uprising in Iraq .

In 1997 Sudani was appointed to the Maysan Agriculture Office. There he headed the department of the cities of Kumait and Ali al-Sharqi, as well as the department for agricultural production. He was also a supervisor engineer in a national science program with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). Following the invasion of Iraq by the United States and its allies in 2003, Sudani served as a coordinator between the Maison Governorate and the CPA . In 2004 became mayor of Amara , the capital of Maisan. In 2005 Sudani became a member of the Province Council there and was re-elected in 2009.

In 2009, the rule of law coalition won the majority of seats in the local elections in Maisan governorate . Sudani was elected governor. On December 21, 2010, Sudani became Iraqi Minister of Human Rights in Nuri al-Maliki's government .
