The Mohammedan Sporting Club is a football club based in Kolkata , India . The club plays in the first Indian league, the I-League and the Calcutta Super Division . The club plays its home games in Yuba Bharati Krirangan with 68,000 seats, one of the largest Indian football stadiums. Games of the Calcutta Super Division are played in the club's own stadium, the Mohammedan Sporting Ground. The club has a broad fan base in India.
After the division of British India in 1947, some players from the Muslim sports club moved to Dhaka , Bangladesh , and founded a sports club of the same name, the Mohammedan SC .
For the 2007/08 season, the club managed to move up to the new I-League. With eleventh place in the following season, the league could not be held. In 2009 he managed to return.
