Moise Jacobber

Moise Jacobber actually Jacob Ber (born March 6, 1786 in Blieskastel , Rhineland Palatinate, France ; died July 17, 1864 in Paris ) was a French flower and porcelain painter of the Jewish faith.

Life

Jacobber was a student of Gerard [us] van Spaendonck. From 1823 to 1835 he worked as a flower painter for the porcelain factory in Sèvres . Jacobber mainly painted porcelain paintings (partly copies), oil paintings and watercolors with flowers and fruits and made his way through his works, with which he was frequently represented in the salon and at exhibitions in Lille, Douai, Cambrai and London from 1822 to 1855 an important reputation in his specialty. Jacobber mostly signed his works with the signature: Jacob-Ber.

According to Dussieux, he painted the decor of two large Sèvres vases that Louis Philippe gave to the Grand Duke of Baden in 1833.

He was married to the flower painter Worms-Jacobber, Élisabeth-Sidonie Jaccobber (Madame Worms) was also active as a flower painter in Sèvres from 1835 to 1839. She is believed to be the couple's daughter since she was 23 years old in 1840.

Works and awards

Works can be found: in Sèvres, Musée céramique (two porcelain paintings, copies after J. van Huysum and G. van Spaendonck, inscribed and dated 1832 and 1827 respectively) and in the Louvre in Paris (two oil paintings). - A Mlle Jacob-Ber, dit Dame Worms.

He was awarded a gold medal in 1839 and was awarded the Legion of Honor Cross in 1843.
