Moldenhauer Archives

The Moldenhauer Archives are an archive within the Library of Congress , the public research library of the United States Congress . The archive contains more than 3,500 original documents from the history of music. Part of this collection is in the Houghton Library at Harvard University .

The archive was donated by Hans Moldenhauer , a German-American pianist and collector. It is one of the most comprehensive collections of original documents in music history. The collection contains manuscripts, correspondence, notes, illustrations and other representative examples of European music history from the Middle Ages to the 20th century. 57 of the greatest composers such as B. Johann Sebastian Bach , Bartók , Beethoven , Brahms , Mahler , Mendelssohn , Mozart , Schubert , Schoenberg and Webern are represented with original documents.
