Molecularity
The molecularity of a chemical reaction , or more precisely an elementary reaction , describes the number of molecules that are involved in the rate-determining step:
- unimolecular, when a molecule is involved,
- bimolecular, when two molecules are involved;
- Reactions or mechanisms with a higher molecularity are rare.
