piece

The work treats Molière's comedies The Misanthrope , Don Juan , Tartuffe and The Miser as stages in the life of one and the same man: Molière.

The performance lasts around six hours. The play is a co-production of the Berlin Schaubühne and the Salzburg Festival. Perceval had already brought Othello (also published as a book) and Lulu Live to the stage in drastic text versions by Zaimolgu / Senkel for the Münchner Kammerspiele .

At the premiere at the Salzburg Festival, the premiere audience split into frenetic applause and angry boos. The play also polarized the critics. For example, Der Tagesspiegel spoke enthusiastically of an “aggressive tirade about love and lust for life”, whereas Die Welt saw the four dramas Molières as “a bad belly joke” ( Ulrich Weinzierl ).
