- On September 23, 1856, Therese (1816–1864), the youngest daughter of the famous mathematician Carl Friedrich Gauß , married the actor Constantin Staufenau (1809–1886) in Elsterwerda .
- Carl Bendix, plant manager of the Biehla-based Phönicia-Werke from 1907 to 1921, was the son of the Danish musician Fritz Bendix from his first marriage to Eugenia, née Bendix . Heusinger. Carl Bendix grew up with his mother in Dresden, who was married there to the Danish writer and Nobel Prize laureate Karl Adolf Gjellerup .
