Life

Zeiske was in the then Saxon town of Elsterwerda, the son of shopkeeper born and municipal mayor Johann Christian Zeiske.

He first attended school in his hometown. A devastating city fire on April 9, 1696, also destroyed Zeiske's parents' house, with the family losing all of their belongings. Zeiske later became an alumnus at the Kreuzschule in Dresden . He then studied at the University of Leipzig , where he completed his studies with a master's degree in philosophy . After his studies, Zeiske became vice rector in 1710 and in the same year rector at the grammar school in Lübben . In 1711 he married Johanna Sabina Spannaussen. This was followed by a position as rector in Sorau in 1713 . Before he finally became rector of the grammar school in Bautzen around 1740 , he took over this office again in Lübben in 1732.
