Appearance and wearing style

The gold-plated or silver-plated cross is eight-pointed and shows the entwined insignia of King VE (Viktor Emanuel) on top of one another on the medallion on the obverse . The royal crown hovers over the letter, provided it corresponds to the awarded level. The back is identical to the front of the cross, but shows the period of service XL , XXV or XVI in the middle medallion in Roman numerals .

The cross is worn as a ribbon medal on the upper left side of the chest of the borrower on a green-white-green ribbon.
