Adam Gottfried Uhlich

Adam Gottfried Uhlich (* 1718 in Elsterwerda ; † 1753 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German actor and playwright .

Life

After studying law, Uhlich went to the theater and later played in the theater troupe of the Neuberin , which is considered to be the co-founder of regular German drama, as well as in the stage troupes Schönemann and Schröter , which were known at the time . In 1742 he married the actress Hanna Rudolf in Hamburg . He later devoted himself to writing, wrote various comedies and translated foreign-language stage works, which he published in two collections. The shepherd's play Das Fest was able to hold out on German stages for a long time. His book Selected and graceful writings for boredom , published in 1749, received further attention in the literary world of that time . In 1753 he died in great poverty.
