Career

He then moved to SC Cottbus , where he stayed until 1965. There he played for the reserve team in the district league and came to a total of 31 missions. As part of his military service, he moved to FC Vorwärts Berlin in 1965 . In the first team, however, Wehner was not used. In 1968 he returned to Cottbus, which was playing in the second-rate GDR league at the time. In his first season 1968/69 he came on 15 missions. While there were only three games in the following season, he increased to 22 games in 1970/71 . Until promotion in 1973 Wehner completed 20 games in the GDR league. 1973/74 he belonged in the major league with 22 of 26 games to the permanent staff of Cottbus. After relegating it directly, it was only used five times and in 1976 moved to BSG Lokomotive Elsterwerda for one season. After another year at TSG Lübbenau 63 , Wehner ended his career in 1978. In the following decades he worked as a coach at smaller clubs.
