Siegfried Helias (born December 28, 1943 in Elsterwerda ) is a German politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

After attending secondary school and the commercial vocational school , Helias completed an apprenticeship as a hairdresser , which he completed in 1963 with the journeyman's examination and finally in 1967 with the master’s examination . In his learned profession, however, he did not work for long and began working in the advertising industry as early as 1968 . Since 1976 he has been a freelance communications consultant and self-employed hairdresser. From its establishment in 2004 until the end of 2012, Helias was Chairman of the Board of the City Foundation Berlin, and in January 2013 he took over the chairmanship of the Board of Trustees. Helias is married and has one daughter.

Helias joined the CDU in 1981. From 1982 he was chairman of the CDU association Charlottenburg-Nord and from 2000 to 2002 he was also treasurer of the CDU regional association in Berlin . Helias was a member of the Berlin House of Representatives from 1985 to 1998 . Here he was most recently chairman of the committee for work, vocational training and women. From 1998 to 2005 he was a member of the German Bundestag and from 2002 to 2005 chairman of the German-Cypriot parliamentary group. He was always drawn into the Bundestag via the Berlin State List .
