Andreas Müller (politician, 1955)

Andreas Müller (born September 26, 1955 in Elsterwerda ) is a former municipal electoral officer . From 1994 to 2015 he was assistant to the general administration of the city of Leipzig. From November 2005 to March 2006 he temporarily held the office of Lord Mayor .

Life

Andreas Müller was a member of the Dresden Kreuzchor , in 1974 he passed his Abitur. From 1974 to 1976 and from 1980 to 1988 he studied theology , in between he trained as a cabinet maker and also worked in this profession. After the second theological exam, the repetentur ( vicariate ) in practical theology at the theological seminar in Leipzig took place from 1988 to 1990 .

In 1990 he worked for the GDR SPD at the Leipzig Round Table . At the suggestion of Mayor Hinrich Lehmann-Grube , who was newly elected for the local elections on May 6, 1990 , Müller renounced the pastoral position intended for him and took over the organization and personnel department of the city of Leipzig. In 1990 he became a full-time assistant to the General Administration of the City of Leipzig. In 1994, 2001 and 2008 Müller was re-elected as an alderman. As First Mayor, from November 22, 2005, he represented Lord Mayor Wolfgang Tiefensee, who was unable to attend due to his appointment as Federal Minister . His provisional administration ended when Burkhard Jung took office on March 29, 2006. Since June 2006, Müller was first mayor and deputy for general administration.

On September 25, 2015, Andreas Müller ended his position as First Mayor and Alderman and went into retirement.

Andreas Müller is married and has four children.
