Günter Haedrich

Günter Hädrich (born February 27, 1941 ) is a former German politician ( SED ). From November 1989 to June 1990 he was the acting Lord Mayor of Leipzig .

Life

Hädrich graduated from the Leningrad Electrotechnical Institute , from which he graduated as a graduate engineer. After that he worked at VEB Galvanotechnik Leipzig . He joined the SED and in 1974 was appointed district councilor for planning in the north-east of Leipzig . At the same time he was from 1974 to 1989 a member of the secretariat of the SED district leadership in Leipzig-Northeast. In 1979 Hädrich became Secretary for Economic Policy of the SED City District Management Northeast. From December 1981 he was district mayor of the north-east district.

Hädrich had been Deputy Mayor of the City of Leipzig and Chairman of the City Planning Commission since the local elections in May 1989 . After the resignation of Lord Mayor Bernd Seidel on November 3, 1989, he was entrusted by the city council with the management of official business. Soon afterwards, Haedrich announced his exit from the SED. After the dissolution of the Leipzig city council on January 26, 1990 due to the admitted electoral fraud by the imprisoned former mayor Bernd Seidel and the lack of legitimation of the deputies, the city council continued to work under Hädrich. He served as Lord Mayor of Leipzig until June 4, 1990.

After the new mayor was elected and Hinrich Lehmann-Grube took office , Hädrich left office. From June 7, 1990 to June 30, 1993, he was the head of the Leipzig City Treasury .
