Thomas Gerber (* 1967 in Elsterwerda ) is a German actor and radio play speaker .

Life

Education and theater

Thomas Gerber completed his acting studies from 1992 to 1996 at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin . During his training in 1995 he appeared at the Hans Otto Theater in Potsdam .

He was then a permanent member of the ensemble at the Brandenburger Theater (1995–1998) and at the Deutsches Theater Berlin (1998–2002). There he worked a. a. with the directors Jürgen Gosch , Thomas Ostermeier , Einar Schleef and Thomas Langhoff . He played as a guest at the Volksbühne in Berlin . Since 2001 he has been working as a freelance actor.

In 2007 he appeared as Viscount the Valomt in Dangerous Liaisons at the Bad Vilbel Castle Festival , with Heike Trinker (Marquise de Merteuil) and Andy Konrad (Chevalier Danceny) as partners. In the 2007/08 season he played Major von Crampas in an Effi Briest production at the Greve Tournee Theater . In 2009 he appeared at the Stadttheater Fürth .

From 2009 to 2013 he was part of the regular ensemble of the Jagsthausen Castle Festival , where he was seen in various productions, including a. as Spiegelberg in Die Räuber (2009), as RP McMurphy in Eine flew über das Kuckucksnest (2012), as Elwood Blues in The Blues Brothers (2010-2013) and as Weislingen in Götz von Berlichingen (2013). In 2012 he received the audience award of the Jagsthausen Castle Festival for his acting performances. In 2014 he took on the role of Iwan Karamazov in a touring production by Theater Greve GmbH in a theater by the Karamazov brothers .

This was followed by theater engagements at the Theaterhaus Jena (2015/2016), at the Ballhaus Naunynstraße (2015–2017, 2018), at the Alzenau Castle Festival (2016–2017) and at the Greizer Theaterherbst (2018). In 2017 he took part in the free theater ensemble "Theater der Sprach Fehler" (Theater der Sprach Fehler) in the world premiere of the play Rost by Christian Kühne. In the 2018/19 season he will appear at the Staatstheater Kassel in the Christmas production Puss in Boots as King.

Film, direction and music

Gerber has appeared in front of the camera in various television and cinema productions. He took on numerous episode roles in television series, acted in television documentaries as an actor and starred in several short films. In the three-part ZDF television film Ku'damm 56 (2016), he played a supporting role as the alleged Jewish previous owner of a Berlin dance school who was convicted of being a fraudster. In December 2018, Gerber, together with Petra Kelling , appeared in the ZDF series The Specialists - In the Name of the Victims in a supporting role as the son of a Turkish guest worker. In the TV series Der Bozen-Krimi (2019) he played the drug smuggler Mario Scento, who works for the 'Ndrangheta .

Gerber gives guest performances in various solo programs, has also worked in the independent theater scene as a director and has also worked as an acting lecturer, theater musician and DJ . He is also active as a speaker, producer and speaker for radio plays .

Private

In the mid-2000s, Gerber traveled for several months as an individual tourist through Brazil , where he also married, lived there with a Brazilian woman for three years and learned Brazilian Portuguese fluently . His hobbies include cycling and surfing . Thomas Gerber lives in Berlin .
