Dietmar Diesner

Dietmar Diesner (born September 2, 1955 in Elsterwerda ) is a German woodwind player ( soprano saxophone , clarinet ) who is primarily active in the field of free improvisation music.

Training and work

Diesner studied from 1975 to 1978 at the conservatory in Cottbus and then to 1984 at the University of Music "Carl Maria von Weber" Dresden . Since 1979 he has played in the "Dresden Music Brigade" and in the Cottbus improvisation trio "Evidence", and since 1982 he has been heard at international festivals. He worked with musicians such as Ulrich Gumpert , Ernst-Ludwig Petrowsky , Manfred Schulze , Hans-Günther Wauer , Hans Rempel , Joe Sachse , Hannes Bauer and Radu Malfatti , but since 1982 also with Helge Leiberg's interdisciplinary project "Gokan" and since 1983 with Sasha Waltz . Later he also appeared with Tony Oxley , Fred Frith , Arto Lindsay , Sven-Åke Johansson (CD “Konsumdelikatessware”, 1988), Heiner Goebbels , Jon Rose , Shelley Hirsch , David Moss , Günter Baby Sommer , Franz Koglmann and Theo Jörgensmann . Since 1983 he has also given solo concerts as a saxophone actor.
