Live and act

After studying at the University of Music in Leipzig with Karl Straube , he worked as a cathedral organist and cantor in Merseburg from 1951 to 1996 . He was also a lecturer in organ playing and improvisation at the Halle church music school . In 1971 he recorded the organ works by Franz Liszt for record on the Ladegast organ in Merseburg Cathedral . He founded the Merseburg Organ Days and campaigned for contemporary organ literature. As an organist, he has made guest appearances throughout Europe, for example at Westminster Abbey and Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris . He particularly took care of organ improvisations and for this very early sought collaboration with other improvised musicians who came from jazz, such as Günter "Baby" Sommer , Ernst-Ludwig Petrowsky , Theo Jörgensmann , Hermann Naehring , Warnfried Altmann or Louis Moholo . He also expanded his organ concerts by including artists from other areas such as (political) literature, dance, visual arts or film.
