He then worked as a graphic designer for the German advertising and advertising company in Dresden until 1976. Since 1976 he was a member of the Association of Visual Artists of the GDR , later joined the Sächsischer Künstlerbund e. In 1996 he was appointed professor for typography and book design at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts and worked there until his death in 1999. Haufe was buried in the Loschwitz cemetery ; the grave has not been preserved.

Jazz guitarist Joe Sachse dedicated the title "On line springworm for Jürgen Haufe" to Jürgen Haufe on his 1999 record Ballade for Jimi Metag .

Act

Jürgen Haufe shaped the culture of advertising graphics in the GDR, East Germany and also the artistic landscape of Germany with posters, free graphics, prints, collages, book designs and free painting.

It is mainly due to posters for the Leipzig Jazz Days , for the Dresden Jazz Autumn , the posters for "Jazz in the Philharmonie" in Ludwigshafen am Rhein , for premieres at the Dresden State Theater and in the Dresden State Operetta , for the film nights on the banks of the Elbe and for Dresden Striezelmarkt , but also for its free graphics, collages and paintings, performance documentaries and photographs.

In addition, Haufe designed record sleeves for the AMIGA label , including for records by the Puhdys ( computer career ) , Stern Meißen (LPs Weißes Gold , The long way , journey to the center of people , mirror image , hourly strike , fresh dew , nights ), elevator ( Spiegelbild) , electra (thousand and one feelings) and Floh de Cologne as well as for jazz LPs by Manfred Schoof (Manfred Schoof Orchestra), among others . Haufes last designed record cover was for Helmut Joe Sachses CD Ballade for Jimi Metag , which was released in 1999.

Haufe succeeded in combining the purpose-oriented forms of graphic design and freer art forms in his work. His ability to create lively, expressive commercial graphic solutions as well as rapid, dynamic statements in the field of freer graphics and painting as well as action painting was one of his specialties.

Jürgen Haufe's works can be found in twelve art collections, including the Dresden State Art Collections , the German Poster Museum in Essen , the Museum of Modern Art Toyama (Japan), the Wilanów Museum in Warsaw (Poland) and the Berlin Academy of the Arts .
