Christoph Schindler (born August 11, 1983 in Elsterwerda ) is a German handball official and former player . He last played for VfL Gummersbach in the handball Bundesliga , the top German division.
Career
As a player
Schindler began playing handball in the youth team of HC Bad Liebenwerda and moved to the northern second division USV Cottbus in 2001 . From 2003 to 2006 he played at TSV Altenholz , which also played in the 2nd Bundesliga North.
Between 2004 and 2006 he had a second game right for THW Kiel , which was used 33 times. He won two German championships with the THW. In 2006, Schindler moved to HBW Balingen-Weilstetten for nine games and in November of the same year went to the then southern second division club TSV Bayer Dormagen (today's name: DHC Rheinland ), with whom he rose in the 2007/08 season. In his first full Bundesliga season he threw 124 goals in 33 appearances. In February 2010, Schindler went to VfL Gummersbach at short notice .
In December 2010, national coach Heiner Brand appointed him as the only newcomer to the extended squad of the national team for the 2011 World Cup in Sweden .
As a functionary
After his active playing career, he took over the post of sports director at his last club, VfL Gummersbach, in the Bundesliga in July 2017 .
