Monbars
Monbars (" l'exterminateur "), known as the buccaneer of the South Seas , was a nobleman from Languedoc and was called the " strangling angel ".
He was particularly known for his extremely cruel torture methods . His hatred was mainly directed against Spain and ships sailing under its flag. He acquired this hatred from a story in which the atrocities committed by Spaniards against American Indians were reported. Monbars was one of the first pirates from Europe to make a name for himself in the South Seas through his looting. In 1670 he conquered Panama .
