Monica Iacob-Ridzi

Monica Maria Iacob-Ridzi (born June 30, 1977 in Petroșani , Hunedoara County ) is a Romanian politician and member of the European Parliament for the Partidul Democrat . In the wake of Romania's accession to the European Union it belonged from 1 January 2007 to 18 December 2008 the European Parliament and was there a member of the Group of the European People's Party (Christian Democrats) and European Democrats .

From December 22, 2008 to July 14, 2009 Iacob-Ridzi was Minister for Youth and Sport in the government of Prime Minister Emil Boc . She resigned from the government after allegations of corruption and was sentenced to five years in prison in January 2014 - not yet legally binding at the time .
