Monika E. Müller is a German art historian .

Life

She completed her studies (1993–2001) in art history, Latin and Italian philology at the University of Tübingen and the University of Urbino as an MA. The Markel Foundation (Stuttgart) sponsored her from 1999 to 2001 as a scholarship holder. From 2001 to 2004 she was a DFG doctoral scholarship holder at the graduate school The Bible - its origin and reception as well as additional training in Latin palaeography from the Middle Ages with Herrad Spilling . After completing her doctorate in Tübingen in 2005 on the wall paintings and stucco work of San Pietro al Monte , she was a research assistant on the DFG project Romanesque Cloisters in France and Spain from 2006 to 2007 , responsible for the source research (Consuetudines, Libri ordinarii) at the Eberhard- Karls-Universität Tübingen (Art History Institute; project leader: Peter K. Klein ). From 2008 to 2013 she worked scientifically on the project to research the Bernward Psalter and the library history of St. Michael in Hildesheim at the Herzog August Library Wolfenbüttel . From 2013 to 2017 she was a research assistant on the DFG project for cataloging medieval manuscripts at the ULB Düsseldorf .

After habilitation on 27 January 2016, the Georg-August University Göttingen teaching as a lecturer (16 9th. Century.) Art history, especially art history of the Middle Ages and wall painting, book painting, graphics, sculpture in Germany, France, Italy. Since February 2017 she has been a research assistant at the State and University Library Hamburg ; Consultant for Western and non-European manuscripts, specialist lecture on theology and manuscript studies.

Her main research interests are the image tradition of the apocalypse, representation of emotions, marginal images, cultural transfer, the history of books and knowledge, Latin palaeography and graphics (15th and 16th centuries). She works on the project Romanesque Cloisters in France and Spain at the University of Tübingen and The Choir Books of St. Catherine's Church in Hamburg in the context of her time (in preparation).
