Monika Knoche

Monika Knoche born Runne (born September 24, 1954 in Kirrlach ) is a former German politician ( Die Linke ). From 2005 to 2009 she was deputy chairman of the left-wing parliamentary group in the German Bundestag .

Life

After completing secondary school , Monika Knoche joined the middle telecommunications service of the Deutsche Bundespost and worked here for many years as an administrative clerk. From 2002 to 2011 she was a union secretary on the ver.di board of directors . Monika Knoche is divorced and has two grown sons.

Political activity

In 1979 Monika Knoche was one of the founders of the party Die Grünen and was a member of the state council from 1991. From 1985 to 1994 she was a city councilor and from 1990 to 1994 chairwoman of the "Greens" parliamentary group in Karlsruhe. From 1994 to 2002 she was a member of the Bundestag and as a health expert and drug policy spokeswoman for the Green member of the health committee.

In the vote on November 16, 2001 on the deployment of the Bundeswehr in Afghanistan, which Chancellor Schröder had linked with the vote of confidence, she voted "Yes". the CDU / CSU, Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen and the FDP voted "No" on printed matter 14/6920 (unlimited solidarity).

In 2005, however, she left the Greens party because of her criticism of the “red-green war policy” and the “neoliberal agenda”. She then joined the party Die Linke , for which she was elected to the Bundestag in 2005 via the state list of Saxony. From 2007 to 2009 she was their deputy group leader.
