Monika Rathert

Monika Rathert (born July 12, 1972 in Steinfurt ) is a German linguist .

Life

Monika Rathert completed her studies of general linguistics and linguistics of English in Tübingen in 1999 with a Magister Artium. She was born in 2004 at the University of Tübingen with the dissertation Textures of Time. The Interplay of the Perfect, Durative Adverbs, and Extended-Now-Adverbs in German and English for Tempus semantics at Arnim von Stechow doctorate . She then worked in research and teaching within Germany at the universities of Tübingen, Heidelberg, Frankfurt and Saarbrücken. She has also taught abroad as a visiting professor at the Ben Gurion University in Beer-Sheva (Israel), the Vienna University of Technology , the Trinity College in Dublin (Ireland) and as a visiting professor at the University of Vienna (Austria).

Monika Rathert has been a professor in Faculty A at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal since April 2009 . In 2009 she received the “Bergischer Lehrlöwe” teaching award from the University of Wuppertal. Since 2010 she has been chairwoman of the Center for Linguistics at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal.

Monika Rathert is known in German research for her work on the semantics of tense and nominalizations as well as for her research on language and law. She is a founding member of the "International Language and Law Association" and a member of the scientific advisory board of the "International Journal for the Semiotics of Law".
