Monique Akin , née Monique Obermüller , is a German-Mexican actress and director .

Life

The trained actress with German and Mexican roots played a German-Turkish woman in the 1998 film Kurz und painless . She was also featured in Gegen die Wand (2004). She had previously worked in television newsrooms, including the premier show Zapping . After founding the film company Corazón International , she took over activities for this company. For example, in 2007 she was responsible for the casting for On the Other Side .

She has been married to Fatih Akin since 2004 and had a son the following year. She lives with her family in Hamburg. She directed the documentary Fatih Akin - Diary of a Film Traveler , which was broadcast on NDR television in 2007.

Monique Akin founded the soul kids association together with friends in 2009 . The association collects donations through events and campaigns, which are then donated to selected non-profit associations, institutions and projects.
