Monique Spartalis
Monique Spartalis (known as Monique , born February 16, 1966 in Frederiksberg ) is a Danish singer.
The daughter of a Greek and a Danish woman who grew up in Egypt had guitar and singing lessons as a child and began her musical career as a member of the girls' choir on Danish radio.
In 1990 she signed a contract with Polygram / Polydor , and the following year she released her first own album. In their music, influences from pop , soul , disco and rhythm and blues are combined. She also worked with jazz musicians such as Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen and Nicolai Bentzon and with the gospel singer Lillian Boutté , worked on albums for children and on the soundtracks for the Disney films Pocahontas and Brother Bear . She leads two bands of her own, the Monique Band and Monique's Disco Diva Express .
She has also appeared in various theater productions in Copenhagen (including Hair at Betty Nansen Teatret and The Rocky Horror Show at Nørrebro Teater ), is a spokesperson for Fox Kids TV and an ambassador for the Danish Heart Foundation.
