The Monitor War Badge was a Romanian war badge awarded during the Second World War to members of the Royal Romanian Navy , which was donated by Marshal Ion Antonescu on May 27, 1943 by ordinance by the Ministry of National Defense .

Award requirements

The Monitor War Badge was awarded to all crew members of monitor ships of the Romanian Navy if they were present for 40 days at sea during various operations or six combat contacts with enemy ships. Furthermore, even after twelve combat contacts with enemy batteries .

Appearance and wearing style

The round monitor war badge is gray and silver and shows in its lower half a wreath of oak leaves and in its upper half the inscription: MONITOARE ( monitor ship ). In the center of it is a centrally shown moving monitor ship with ship superstructures, which, coming from right to left, crosses on stylized waves. The upper end of the war badge is adorned with the royal Romanian crown. It was worn as a cross with all military suits under the medal buckle on the left breast pocket.
