Monon (saint)
Monon (* 6th century ; † October 18, around 645 in Nassogne ) was a hermit. Monon came to Belgium from Scotland around the year 600 and proselytized the population. He last spent his time near Nassogne in the Ardennes . Monon was murdered there. The collegiate church of Saint-Monon stands over his grave. The building that can be visited today dates from 1661 and houses the remains of Monon. The Saint-Monon chapel was built on the site of the alleged murder. An empty show grave can be viewed inside the chapel .
