Under monorchism (also monorchism or Einhodigkeit ) one understands an anomaly of the male sexual organ , in which a testicle in the scrotum is missing or is completely inoperative.

causes

A natural reason is the abnormal position of the testicle or testicular dystopia, in which an impaired testicular descent during embryonic development is the cause. Other reasons could be injury or loss due to testicular cancer .

Related diseases are the anorchia (no testicles) and the extremely rare triorchia (three testicles as a result of the duplication of a testicular anlage).
