Mons-sur-Orge

Mons-sur-Orge is a district of Athis-Mons in the French department of Essonne in the Île-de-France region . Mons comes from the Latin term Mont ( = mountain, hill ).

The place is first handed down in the 10th century.

In 1817 the formerly independent municipalities Athis-sur-Orge and Mons-sur-Orge were merged to form the new municipality Athis-Mons.
