Demographics
According to the 2000 census , the Montrose statistical area had 7,018 people; 2924 households and 1850 families were counted. The population density was 797 inhabitants per km². 3081 residential units were recorded. The racial the population was composed of 46.5% White, 50.0% African American, 0.4% Native American, 1.0% Asian, and 0.9% from other races; 1.3% said they came from several ethnic groups. 1.6% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
