The Moorburger executor Werke GmbH (until 1935, 1935-1946 Karl Ritscher Moorburger executor Werke GmbH , then from 1946 to 1963 Karl Ritscher GmbH ), known by the brand of tractor Ritscher was an owner-run tractor manufacturer based in Hamburg-Moorburg . When the tractor boom subsided in 1961, the owner Karl Ritscher sold the company to Berliner Maschinenbau AG.

history

The Ritscher tug brand emerged from a shipyard with a scrapping business in Hamburg's Moorburg district . The tractor development began after Karl Ritscher , the son of the company founder Heinrich Wilhelm Ritscher, returned to Hamburg in 1919 after studying mechanical engineering in the USA . First a chain tractor was developed and introduced in 1920 under the name Panther . The improved gray louse was then delivered in 1921. Also in 1921 the company was split between the Ritscher siblings. The Moorburger Trecker Werke stayed with Karl Ritscher. The world economic crisis was overcome by armaments contracts from Berlin . For the Wehrmacht's chain drives , experience with agricultural chain tractors was beneficial. In the pre-war period, Ritscher also started making trench cleaners. At the beginning of the Second World War, the existing production facilities were no longer sufficient. Ritscher expanded its production to include plants in Harburg , Lüneburg and Sprötze . Due to the armaments production , the factories were also the constant target of air raids . After the war, production got off to a slow start. In 1948 ditch cleaners and tricycles could be produced again, after which a new series of tractors, from 15 to 40 hp, was constructed , with Ritscher also producing implement carriers, the Multitrak and, from 1955, the Multitrac . A special feature was the Schlick slide , the York ditch cleaner. Karl Ritscher recognized the drop in demand for tractors early on. Where other companies with mergers tried to stay afloat, he sold his company in 1961 to Berliner Maschinenbau AG , which from then on built lathes , typesetting and textile machines in Sprötze. By 1963, a few Multitracs and by 1970 still York-type ditch cleaners are said to have been built.

The mechanical engineering company MTW and later Karl Ritscher GmbH mainly produced tractors of various types. In addition, (temporarily) u. a. Trench milling machines ("Grüppenfräsen"), trench cleaning devices and vehicles, semi-trailers as well as caterpillars, cage wheels and grab chains for tractors. In the years of the Second World War, Ritscher, as an armaments company, mainly manufactured chain drives for special vehicles of the Wehrmacht .

Chain tractor

The first chain tug built by Karl Ritscher on a trial basis at the shipyard was the "Panther" in 1920. In the following year an improved version was developed, which was called the "gray louse" and was the first tractor sold by Moorburger Treckerwerke. From 1924 to 1931, further chain tractors for agricultural and forestry purposes followed, which were offered under the model names “M”, “E”, “D” and “Dg”. In 1942, already during the Second World War, the “Ritscher R 50”, a chain tractor with a 50 hp Deutz engine, was built, although it remained a prototype. After the war ended, the production of chain tugs was not resumed.

Three-wheel tractor

The first three-wheeled tractor from Ritscher, the "Type N", was presented in 1936 and then further developed with the types "N 14" and "N 20". After the end of the Second World War, Ritscher resumed production with new three-wheeler models (types "203", "320" and "325"). However, after a few years it was discontinued in favor of four-wheel tractor production.

Four-wheel tractor

The first four-wheel tractor built by Ritscher in 1941 was the type "204" with a 22/24 hp Deutz engine. In 1942 a “G 25” tractor with a wood gas engine followed, but it remained a prototype. After the end of the war, v. a. In the 1950s, Ritscher developed over 20 new models with engine outputs between 12 HP (type "512") and 40 HP (type "540" and type "936 Super") with engines from the Mannheim engine works .

Other four-wheel tractor type designations from Ritscher are: 412, 415, 420, 515, 515/54, 517, 518, 520, 520 R, 524, 525, 525 WR, 528, 528/20, 536, 613, 614, 615, 620, Komet R 830, Komet R 830 Spezial and 832 Junior.

Equipment carrier

From 1954 to the beginning of the 1960s, equipment carriers were also built by Ritscher. The first model "512 G" was called "Multitra k ", the other models manufactured from 1955 ("517 G", "517 GH", "520 GH", "D 20", "D 20 P", "D 25 M ”“ D 25 P ”) were then called“ Multitra c ”. At the end of the 1950s, the "Baumulti", an implement carrier with a tipping body, was added to the range.

In collaboration with Güldner and Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz (KHD), Multitracs were also created, which differ from the Ritscher Multitracs in that they have different colors and the use of their own Güldner and Deutz engines.
