The half-timbered house Moorgasse 17 is located in Lang-Göns , a district of the Langgöns municipality in the district of Gießen ( Hesse ) on the L3133 through road. It stands at the gable facing the street and offset from the street. The half-timbering dates from the 18th century. Due to the remarkable half-timbered structure and the prominent position in the street scene, the building is an artistic and urban Hessian cultural monument. The building has housed a restaurant on the ground floor since 1984.

The building stands at an angle to Moorgasse and leaves space for a parking lot along the gable side on the small forecourt that is created. The two-storey, free-standing half-timbered house on three sides rests in the front part on a sturdy base, the base on the rear part of the building is much lower. On the eaves side behind the corner of the building facing the courtyard, there is a cellar access in the still high plinth, which is accessed by an external staircase going down. The front part of the restaurant, which lies above this cellar and faces Moorgasse, is raised by six steps. The ground level access to the restaurant is accessed through a secondary entrance house in the open inner courtyard.

The roof ends with a partial hip towards Moorgasse. The beams of the framework are dark brown, the fields white. The corner posts on the upper floor show carved quarter columns with fluting . They are held in the symmetrically structured framework on the gable side by sweeping three-quarter-high struts, which are held in place with headwoods, neck bars and opposing foot struts. A similarly shaped strut on the eaves side creates a man figure across the corner. The two-zone gable side houses small windows in the gable. The white window frames are surrounded by green draperies.

The rear annex as well as the barn are more recent and not individually listed, but still belong to the protected overall complex of the historic town center , which ends east of the half-timbered house. The barn has been used as a hall for the restaurant since 2006. There is a beer garden in front of the barn.

The restaurant is named after the Ortsneck name for the Lang-Göns residents, who were called "Speckmäuse", "Speckmaus".
