The MOPPEL , short for "Modular Processor Program of ELO", was a microcomputer do-it-yourself project that was described in numerous issues of the German electronics journal ELO between 1982 and 1984 . The author was Reinhard Gößler.

Details

The MOPPEL was organized in a modular way around an Intel 8085 A clocked at 4 MHz and in the basic version had an eight-digit, seven-segment display along with a hex keyboard, 2 kB RAM and 4 kB ROM . As mass storage one was tape recorder used.

After one year of project duration of MOPPEL could with a 80x25-character graphics output for a BAS - Monitor up to 32 kB RAM, a licensed CP / M operating system on floppy disk and a BASIC - interpreter be appointed. The material costs of the full expansion amounted to over 2000 DM.
