Live and act

Moritz Pflueg was a son of Peter Pflueg (1779-1859) and his wife Catharina Dorothea, née Hedde (1780-1843), who married on June 14, 1803 in Brunsbüttel. The father owned a farm in Nordhusen, worked as a dikemaster and was the bearer of the Dannebrog Order.

Moritz Pflueg spent childhood and youth together with two brothers and two sisters on his father's farm in Nordhusen. In 1838 he took over the property with more than 70 Dithmarscher acres, which corresponded to more than 95 hectares. On October 19, 1838 he married Christine Magdalene Moritz (born January 23, 1819 in Westerdeich ; † July 23, 1899 in Brunsbüttel). The couple had two sons and six daughters.

In 1864 Pflueg divided the manor he managed and transferred the so-called "Diekshof" to his eldest son Peter Hermann (1839–1915). In 1873 he handed the remaining property over to the other son Carl Friedrich (1847–1929). He himself bought a retirement home in Brunsbüttel-Ort, which had a little less space than the previous property and where he ran fruit farming. In 1970 this property was still owned by his descendants.

With the outbreak of the Schleswig-Holstein uprising in 1848, Pflueg joined it and joined the state assembly a year later. As a regional representative elected in 1850, he was later given the "upper power of attorney". It was given the designation "Vollmacht Pflueg", which developed into a name that is well known beyond Dithmarschen . In 1861 Pflueg became a member of the Holstein assembly of estates . After 1864 he moved into the provincial parliament. From 1879 to 1888 he was a member of the constituency of Süderdithmarschen in the Prussian House of Representatives .

Pflueg was considered a passionate Augustenburger and later joined the progressive party . After his death in July 1892, contemporary witnesses wrote that he had received "sincere veneration" in all circles of the population.
