Moritz Schmidt (politician)
Friedrich August Moritz Schmidt (born October 24, 1841 in Roßla ; † 1903 ) was a German judge, manor owner and member of parliament.
Life
Moritz Schmidt studied law at the Georg-August University in Göttingen and the Friedrich Wilhelms University in Berlin . In 1862 he became a member of the Corps Brunsviga Göttingen . After completing his studies, he started a career as a judge and became a district judge. In 1875 he quit the judicial service. He was the owner of the manor and the Oberröblingen sugar factory . He was head of office and a member of the district committee, the district council and the district synod.
From 1879 to 1893 Schmidt sat as a member of the Merseburg constituency 6 (Sangerhausen, Eckartsberga) in the Prussian House of Representatives . On November 20, 1880, he lost his mandate due to a declaration of invalidity, but was confirmed in the necessary by-election. He belonged to the faction of the Free Conservative Party .
