Christensen has been participating in AFP World Tour competitions since 2009. He achieved his first podium finish in April 2009 with second place in slopestyle at the Dumont Cup in Newry . In the 2009/10 season he finished second in slopestyle at the Dumont Cup in Newry and third at the Winter Park Open in Winter Park . He made his World Cup debut in March 2011 in La Plagne , which he finished in sixth place on the halfpipe . At the beginning of the 2011/12 season he won the gold medal in Big Air at the New Zealand Winter Games in Cardrona . As the season progressed, he came third on the halfpipe at the Pipe Open Series in Whistler and at the US Grand Prix in Mammoth . At the AFP World Tour Final in Whistler he also reached third place in the halfpipe competition and in slopestyle. He finished the season in fourth place in the AFP World Tour overall standings. In March 2013 he won third place in slopestyle at the Dumont Cup in Newry . When he first participated in the Olympics in Sochi in 2014 , he became Olympic champion in the first-ever slopestyle competition. At the Winter X Games 2015 in Aspen , he won a silver medal in slopestyle. In February 2015 he won his first World Cup victory in Park City and thus achieved second place in the Slopestyle World Cup. After third place in the Slopestyle World Cup in Cardrona at the beginning of the 2015/16 season , he won the World Cup and US Grand Prix in Mammoth in Slopestyle and at the end of the season he finished 24th in the overall World Cup and fifth in the Slopestyle World Cup. At the Winter X Games 2016 , he finished ninth in slopestyle. In the 2016/17 season he came in sixth place in slopestyle at the Winter X Games 2017 and fifth at the X Games Norway 2017 in Hafjell . At the Freestyle Skiing World Championships 2017 in Sierra Nevada , he achieved 44th place in slopestyle.
