Morphix was a Linux distribution that was available as a live system . It was a modified Knoppix , which in turn was based on Debian GNU / Linux . The last version was published in September 2007.

history

Alex de Landgraaf started the project in 2003 and was the only developer until 2007. His goal was to divide the Knoppix, which is very suitable for the production of live CDs because of its good hardware recognition, into modules so that live CDs of localized or dedicated distributions could easily be produced with it. In order to integrate useful properties from other distributions, Knoppix was significantly changed, and Morphix was created.

The concept of modular structure at Morphix has encouraged the further development of modular distributions. The Morphix Live CD served as the basis for the Ubuntu Live CDs. Knoppix has also adopted the concept of modularization. The modules of many different Debian derivatives can be combined. Dreamlinux z. B. has taken over modules, kernel patches and other software from Morphix, but also modules from other distributions.
