The Morrell Point is the northernmost point of land on the west coast of Thule Iceland in the archipelago of the South Sandwich Islands .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1971 after the American sealer captain Benjamin Morrell (1795-1839) from Stonington , Connecticut , who had sailed to the island in 1823 with his ship Wasp .
