The Mortimere is a lake in the Lake District , Cumbria , England .
The Mortimere is an artificial lake that was created in the 1960s for study purposes by Mike Mortimere, director of the Brathay Hall Field Study Center south of Ambleside , by enlarging an existing pond. After the death of Martin Mortimere, the lake was named in his honor.
The lake has no recognizable inflow or outflow.
