Visualization of the ocean currents between Madagascar and the continent

The Mozambique Current in the Indian Ocean transports warm water masses southwards along the east coast of southern Africa . It runs roughly between the coast of Madagascar and Mozambique and merges into the Agulhas Current .

The well-known Garden Route in South Africa benefits from the warm water masses of the river, as the flora there can bloom well into winter.

The causes of the current are currently not considered to have been adequately researched.
